Workshop in timber
A workshop for the province of Lower Austria is to be built in an existing industrial area.
The aim of our project is to minimise emissions, to use resources sensibly and efficiently as well as to create a pleasant place to work.
The workshop is therefore designed as a timber structure with a solar shed roof: North-facing skylights provide even, natural light, while sloping, south-facing roof surfaces are optimally used for PV elements and minimise heat input.
Prefabricated timber frame elements serve as the workshop’s insulation and form an extension that provides office workplaces. The necessary floor slab is used for heating and cooling.
Areas for manoeuvering are reduced to a minimum in order to contain land use. Wild meadows and newly planted trees cool the site and serve as biotopes and for recreation during work breaks.
