Extension kinder-garten-house
A listed building houses a kindergarten that is to be extended in the courtyard in order to accommodate a third group of children.
The aim of our project is to preserve this courtyard, which is used as a playground, together with its old trees, and to activate it further while respecting the ensemble.
The new kinder-garten-house therefore aligns with the existing building and adjoins an existing firewall, so that extension and existing building frame the courtyard and activate it from both sides.
The building is structured into a functional zone along the rear wall and well lit common rooms along the façade.
The shape of the roof references the existing listed building, while the ridge echoes the height of the existing firewall. The simple, articulate timber roof structure remains visible in the interior, creates high quality interiors and demonstrates the building's ecological construction.
